ATHENS COUNTY CHILDREN SERVICES TO HOST KIDS AND TEEN WRITING AND ARTWORK CONTEST
By Samantha Presti
September 17, 2015Athens County Children Services is hosting a Kids and Teens Writing and Artwork Contest this school year. The purpose of this essay and art contest is to actively engage the community and bring awareness of the bonds between sibling and peer relationships from a child’s perspective. As children enter into the foster care system it is important to remember that special bond amongst sibling(s) groups and to keep them united throughout this experience.
Participants will be separated into three different age groups: 4-6, 7-12, and 13-18 and must be living in or attending schools in Athens County. The essay writing prompts include: What is your favorite activity to do with your sibling(s)?, Write about a time when your sibling(s) or group of friends helped you with something, Tell us what you love most about your sibling(s) or friend group. Or use their artistic abilities to draw one of the following prompts: Draw a picture showing an activity you enjoy doing with your sibling(s) or friend group, or draw a picture that shows why you love your sibling(s) or group of friends. Children ages 7-18 are encouraged to submit both essay and artwork contest.
