School Outreach Workers

“The School Outreach program gives kids a chance to get the help and support that some kids may never have if it weren’t for School Outreach Caseworkers.”

– Parent

Our school outreach caseworkers seek to strengthen families and promote positive school relationships to enhance student school success. This is accomplished by supporting students, families, and teachers by increasing access to community resources, skill building, providing crisis intervention, improving communication between school and community, and providing opportunities for children.

“It is wonderful to have someone be a go-between” between home and school.”

– Teacher

ACCS School Outreach Caseworkers support students by:

  • Teaching life skills and other evidence-based prevention programs in classrooms
  • Facilitating Lunch Bunch groups to help children develop social and problem-solving skills
  • Providing a safe space for students to come and discuss problems
  • Helping them to be successful academically, socially, and behaviorally.
  • Building resiliency factors so they are less likely to engage in risk-taking behaviors

  • Helping them decrease stress by meeting basic needs
  • Coordinating parenting classes and strengthening their parenting skills

  • About

School Outreach seeks to strengthen families and promote positive school relationships to enhance student school success. We partner with local school districts to have a school outreach worker in the following schools:

    Alexander Elementary

    Amesville Elementary

    East Elementary

    Morrison-Gordon Elementary

    Nelsonville-York Elementary

    Trimble Elementary

  • Get Involved

School Outreach Workers provide preventative services to any family or student enrolled within that school. These services are voluntary and no formal involvement with ACCS is needed.

The School Outreach team holds and supports numerous activities in the various schools.

Resource Rooms

School supplies

Each School Outreach worker has a resource room in their schools where hygiene supplies, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, food, and other support is kept for students in need of assistance. These supplies are given, free-of-charge, to children who need help throughout the school year, so they have all they need to succeed throughout the school year.

Backpack Giveaway

Our School Outreach team is committed to helping those in need return to school with the tools needed to succeed, including backpacks for those who need them. As the school supply requirements grow longer every year, families are struggling to send their children to school with everything that is needed and our School Outreach team provides assistance to those who need it.

School Supply Giveaway

Every year before school begins, the School Outreach team coordinates with the local elementary schools to provide school supplies to families in need corresponding to their grade-specific school supply lists. Our goal is to ensure that every child is able to begin the school year positioned for success, with all the school supplies required.

Social Emotional
Support Groups

Our School Outreach team holds various social and emotional, individual and group activities to support children in our schools who need help. They facilitate girl empowerment groups, Band of Brothers, Lunch Brunch, and other support groups meant to give children emotional and social support as they grow and navigate a challenging school setting.
