May is National Foster Care Month, and Athens County Children Services is calling attention to the increasing number of children needing foster care. With more than 100 children currently in care in Athens County, there is a constant need for licensing additional foster homes to provide a nurturing home for local children.

In preparation for the upcoming school year Athens Wendy’s restaurants, Athens County Children Services, and Power 105-WXTQ-FM are excited to begin the 17th annual Lace Up for Kids; a back to school program dedicated to sending area children back to school with new gym shoes. As a result of Lace Up for Kids, it is expected that over 300 Athens County children will be ready to take on a new academic school year with a new pair of shoes.
