
Help Me Grow
In 2010, Help Me Grow Service Coordinators worked with an average of 160 cases each month, providing child development information, home visits, information and referral, and support. 2010 saw Help Me Grow transition from a broad-based eligibility to a more narrow eligibility. Help Me Grow received 229 referrals in 2010.

What is Help Me Grow?
Help Me Grow is a program for Ohio's expectant parents, newborns, infants, and toddlers. The program provides health and development services so that children start school healthy and ready to learn. Help Me Grow works with parents to support young children's development.
Athens County Help Me Grow is a system of services offered to eligible Athens County families during pregnancy until a child's third birthday. These services focus on infant and toddler development. Families choose services to help them reach the goals they find important.
Family Support Services
Families in the Help Me Grow program will have an opportunity to interact with other families who share similar experiences and cocnerns and will be encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives in order to improve services.
Ongoing Home Visits
Help Me Grow ongoing home visits include prevention and intervention services that focus on providing prenantal health habits, infant care-giving skills, social support, use of community services and information, community supports through ongoing home services, and family support services.
How can Help Me Grow help my child?
- Ongoing home visits that offer information on child health, growth, education, and development through the Parents as Teachers program
- Screenings for health, hearing, vision, and development
- Fun development activities for parents and children
- Access to services and therapies for special needs
- Comprehensive developmental evaluations when indicated
- Links to community resources and services
- Family support through parenting workshops, family activities, and parent support group
Who is eligible?
- First-time pregnant women who meet elibility requirements
- First-time parents with a child under 6 months of age who meet eligibility requirements
- Children under the age of 3 with a developmental delay or qualifying medical diagnosis
- Children under the age of 3 who have a parent engaged in active military duty
