
Kidfest! 2008
April 26, 2008Athens County Children Services held their annual Kidfest on Saturday, April 26 at Ohio University's Convocation Center.
Thousands of children attended Kidfest. It was a day full of interactive and educational play presented by local community members, organizations and businesses. A fun-filled event which teaches fire safety, traffic safety and disability awareness among other themes, it is an enriching experience that not only teaches, but also helps foster relationships between children and local officials such as firemen and policemen. Proceeds from the event benefit special needs children and their families by sending them to fun summer camps, buying medical equipment, services, etc.
In addition, lots of great entertainment was provided by the many booth participants and special appearance by Spongbob! Many acts performed on stage on the Convocation Center floor throughout the day. Several acts were comprised of Athens area children volunteering to provide entertainment during Kidfest.
OU Athletics presented The 2008 Green & White Spring Game, immediately following Kidfest. Kidfest participants had the special opportunity to run with Bobcat mascot, Rufus, in the third annual Rufus' Run during HALFTIME of the Green & White game.
And for fans, it was an opportunity to enjoy a spring day and exciting football at Peden Stadium and take advantage of several exciting events.
